I've been thinking for about a week now that I need to do a 5 day cleanse. Yesterday I thought I'd start on Monday because it's easiest to do it during the week, but this morning I got up and found that I'd let about 5 lbs sneak up on me since mid summer and decided that today was the day. Even if you don't have a scale, your jeans are a great barometer in letting you know that it's time to slim down a bit. Mine did. My husband Pat is "all in". I like to cook, he likes to eat what I cook and he loves it when I decide it's time to do a seasonal "reset".
I was remembering that last September 25th I did a 5 day Cleanse and found that I kept my weight even all through the holidays and winter. Getting all the sugar, salt and junk out of my system set me up for making better choices and it seriously did last.
My Cleanse of Choice is easy, which is why I choose it. I drink 3 protein shakes a day, eat 2 high protein snack bars and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. It's a good balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat, is clean and does the trick. (for 5 days I need two bags of Nutrimeal Shake Mix and 1 box of Protein Bars. I usually mix 2 scoops of vanilla and 1 scoop of chocolate in my shake. I know, I'm a little boring about it).
Fruits are an easy choice for most people. Getting enough vegetables every day is harder for most of us. I'm always looking for ways to make that choice easier, so I went down this morning to Whole Foods to buy organic vegetables. The produce section is SO appealing that it's hard not to buy great quality veggies!
