I am open to a new view on that since I listened to a conference call Dr. Oz hosted for my company in December. He said that 46% of news years resolvers will be successful, and that I will be 10 times more likely to make a change if I make the resolution at New Years. 46% is enough of a success rate to reconsider. Consider that a 300 batting average puts a ball player in the super star category.
His tips were as follows:
- Have a specific action plan
- Have genuine confidence - publicly declare your resolution because you are more likely to succeed with accountability
- Track your progress in January and reward yourself when you succeed
- Everyone messes up, so recognize it and get back on track the next day
I have 3 personal goals for 2013.
- I really like personal development, but I feel like I've gotten a little random about it in 2012. I have committed to 15 minutes of personal development 5 days a week- reading or listening.
- The upside to having my own business is that I have no set office hours, and the downside is that I have no set office hours. I am resolving to be more disciplined with my office hours.
- I would like to lose about 5 lbs- just to feel a little leaner, and I resolve NOT to DIET to get there.
ABOUT NOT DIETING
the subject for tomorrow......
